Room Change Process



 

Wanting to change rooms? Residence Life wants to ensure your living situation is safe and meets your academic and social needs. If you have roommate concerns and you are not sure how to handle them, seek out your Resident Assistant. You can also stop by the Residence Life Central Office, located in the MBS Complex.

 

 

Important Dates

Room Change Request Process Open Fall 2026

First Room Change Request Window -  September 4th-6th

Second Room Change Request Window - October 2nd-4th

 

 

How to change your room

Standard Room Change

View available spaces and change your current room assignment by participating in a room change lottery.

 

Change rooms via Housing Portal

To access the online housing room change lottery, login to your Housing Portal.

Go to Room Selection/Change and select from a list of available rooms and halls.

 


 

Wait for confirmation

If space is available, you’ll be notified within 7 business days with your move-in timeline. If no options are available, you’ll be encouraged to reapply during the next room change window.

 

 

Things to keep in mind

If you are experiencing a roommate issue at any point during the academic year, you should reach out to your Resident Assistant (RA) or Assistant Resident Director (ARD)/Resident Director (RD) of your building to help walk through a roommate mediation.

If you have any questions about the room change process, please reach out to the Central Office. If you have questions about roommate mediation, please reach out to a member of your hall staff (RA/(A)RD).

Swapping Rooms With Another Resident

To swap with another student:

 

Go to the Residency tab in your

 


 

Select Room Swap

 

 

A shareable Room Swap link

will be generated and will remain active for 48 hours. 

 

If the other Resident accepts,

a room swap request will be automatically be created and you will receive move-over instructions oce approved.
