Food on Campus

Nothing beats a warm cup of coffee at Arctic Java on a cold Fairbanks morning. Then, between classes, stop by Dine49 or the Food Court for a quick bite to eat with your friends.

What is a Nanook?

"Nanook" comes from the Inupiaq word nanuq, meaning polar bear or “King of the North." Nanook is a symbol of strength, resilience and adaptability. The Nanook is more than a mascot, though — it’s a reflection of UAF students' enduring passion for adventure and the natural world.

Nanooks Create

You don't have to look far for inspiration in Fairbanks — Denali (North America's highest mountain peak), the northern lights, winter landscapes, the midnight sun — not to mention a rich blend of cultures and perspectives unlike anywhere else in the U.S.
