Join the Family! The Riverboat Discovery offers a multitude of jobs in every department of the operation.
All our positions at the Riverboat Discovery have an element of customer service, some more so than others. They can be categorized into two groups, On Stage and Back Stage. On Stage positions have more interaction with our guests, while Back Stage positions have less interaction. We offer multiple levels of employment, opportunities to lead and manage a team.
Wages starting at $18/hour (this includes our $2/hour bonus paid in a lump sum at the end of our season).
Duties:
- Count cash
- Entering accounts receivable into an accounting program
- Prepare daily receipts ledgers and deposits
- Prepare invoices and journal entries
- Reservation support duties
The job descriptions and hours vary from position to position, but we do not require employees to join a department with a specific set of skills. As long as our employees bring excitement and energy, we can teach them everything they need to know to do the job.

The Reservations Manager oversees all aspects of the reservations department for Riverboat Discovery, Gold
Dredge 8, and related products. You will manage ticketing operations, coordinate with
tour companies and vendors, lead the reservations team, and ensure a smooth, efficient
booking process.
Schedule: Full-time; 40 hours per week in the winter, and 40–50 hours per week during in the
summer.
Benefits and Pay: $24-$28 per hour DOE, seasonal bonus of up to 12%, health insurance, profit sharing,
flexible time off.
Duties:
- Lead, train, and supervise the reservations team.
- Manage ticketing software and ensure accurate payments.
- Coordinate with tour companies and vendors to balance passenger flow.
- Plan marketing campaigns to increase direct bookings.
- Collect and report customer and ticketing data.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend promotions, counseling, or disciplinary actions.
- Prepare reports and assist leadership in planning and scheduling.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Experience in hospitality, travel, or ticketing operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks.
- Effective communication skills.
- Able to work long, demanding days during peak season.

Are you ready to join an energetic, positive, and collaborative team? As a Student Marketing Assistant for the UAF College of Business and Security Management, you'll engage in social media management, event planning, and the use of communication tools and promotional channels. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop valuable life skills while promoting a national innovation competition and a premier leadership event for over 300 attendees. You'll gain hands-on experience in social media, graphic design, photography, and videography.
Team members work independently and in a team with supervision. Students may work most hours at the CBSM office, and some hours remotely. Candidates who wish to work remotely part-time should have fast internet and a laptop.
Basic computer skills, customer service, and the ability to work independently with
intermittent supervision.
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
Experience with social media, graphic design, and photo/video techniques are helpful, but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Student Employment Requirements:
Must be a UA student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours throughout employment.
Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA, unless a first-time freshman.
Prefer one year or more of related training or experience.
Position Details:
This is a part-time position for UA students only. It is a Student 2 position, starting
at $16.00/hour.

The UAF Admissions Welcome Center Student Employee plays a vital role in creating a positive first impression for prospective students and their families. Responsible for greeting all visitors to the UAF Office of Admissions, whether in person, by phone, or via email, this position ensures that every guest feels welcomed, supported, and well-informed. The student employee delivers outstanding customer service at the front desk, provides backup support for the admissions phone queue, and serves as a secondary Campus Tour Guide when needed.
To thrive in this role, you must be a currently enrolled student at the University
of Alaska Fairbanks with strong verbal communication skills and a professional, welcoming,
and patient demeanor. Successful candidates will be comfortable navigating web-based
tools such as Amazon Connect, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and confidently
engaging with students, families, and visitors. The ideal candidate will also enjoy
public speaking and feel comfortable leading and presenting to groups of 10–25 people.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Be enrolled in at least 6 UA credits.
2. Have at least a 2.0 GPA.
3. Completed at least one semester at UAF already

Internships
This position involves a variety of administrative and fiscal support tasks, including:
- Monitoring and responding to office and purchasing email accounts
- Assist with processing payments
- Updating the ProCard log with accounting codes
Checking the mail room for incoming packages and mail, logging deliveries, and notifying recipients - Reconciling transactions in JP Payment Net
- Processing UAF CFOS merchandise orders
Office Manager, Barbara Wadlinger, and Fiscal Manager, Luke Candady, are also open to structuring this as a formal internship for any student who may need that option for degree internship credit.
