Upward Bound is a federally funded program aimed to improve the graduation rates of high school students and increase the number of graduates who continue with post-secondary education. Upward Bound program primarily serves economically challenged families with students who are the first-generation to attend college.

 

What we offer

Academic Year

Students enrolled in the Upward Bound program during the academic year will receive tutorial sessions, educational/recreational & career events, group activities, exploration of post-secondary education opportunities & visits to campuses, financial aid application assistance, and may participate in the six-week summer program on the UAF campus.

Summer Program

The Upward Bound Summer Academy is a five-week college preparatory program that gives Upward Bound students a taste of the college experience. Held from early June to early July, participants take college-style classes, participate in service projects, and experience college-like social life through sports, career experiences, outdoor adventures, group interaction, and social events.
